Client Communication... How Often?
What is the appropriate amount of “I don't have any updates update?”
I love this because i’s all about expectations.
I tell my clients in consult all the time that I am not the type of person to call you back without and update or say, “I don’t know let me get back to you. So if you ask me a question and I don’t answer it right away it’s because I don’t have an answer for you. So don’t panic.”
I give them the caveat that, you know, if it’s been hours and hours, you know, 7 hours, and you haven’t heard from me ping me again. Maybe I saw it on my watch and I missed it. Or it could be 10 o’clock at night and I’m not gonna call you back that late.
This works perfectly fine because they know what to expect.
Obviously if that doesn’t work for them, I’m happy to communicate however they’d like. Typically when I tell them this ahead of time they’re perfectly fine.
